The Fine Art of Imagination

Other trompe l'oeil murals and works of art by jonsson :
This painting combines several elements of things Chicago, past and present.  In a somewhat abstract form buildings from the Exposition of 1894 combine with an 'L' train, a map of The Loop, and the famous Robie House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.  In this departure from realism jonsson uses abstraction, symbolism, realism, and cartographism all in a
monochromatic color scheme to suggest the essence of Chicago.

Jonsson:  "I enjoy the occasional diversion from realism which allows me to approach the painting on a more intellectual level, especially with the use of symbols.  The real trick is adding elements of realism and having them work within the context of the painting."
Thank you.
