"Alot of my paintings deal with the concept of memory because painting from imagination requires a certain amount of visual memory. The challenge is to capture the feeling of a particular moment. You know, what was it that made the original moment interesting enough to remember? I found over time that the feeling of the moment was what I was actually after.
When you paint from 'direct observation' (what you're painting is right in front of you) it's pretty easy to capture the feeling. When you paint from imagination it's much more challenging, until you find the feeling and are able to express that remembered feeling on canvas. That's what I wanted with this series."
