~'Modest ability' refers to the way you would describe your own ability, not necessarily the way others would describe your art work. At this level, you've dabbled with creating art, perhaps even drawn and painted often, although you would not (yet) consider yourself an artist or that what you made was (in fact) art.~
"Our world society would have us believe that only certain people possess the "talent" necessary to be a writer or dancer or painter, when in fact, there is an artist inside every one of us.". --- jonsson
There are 2 topics in this Workshop.
TOPIC ONE: UNLEARNING
You've probably heard the saying that 'a little knowledge is sometimes worse than having no knowledge at all'. Truer words have never been spoken. The problem with 'a little knowledge' is that you can be tempted to take shortcuts (read, 'not do the work'). Those shortcuts will sabotage you later on, when you least expect it, and, when you need the skipped knowledge the most. Throw out your preconceptions, your preconceived ideas, preconceived notions. If you don't you'll always only be drawing and/or painting your own reality. (Remember the the heated discussion from Level One?) Furthermore, you'll miss the point of art which is to connect and interact with other humans. AND, from a professional standpoint, if you make alot of art about your own reality, chances are, you'll get to keep most of it.
SECTION TWO: REMEMBERING
Re-member means to put the members together again. You have to know the members in order to reassemble them. Alot of my work deals with 're-membering'. What I discovered was that memories are subjective. They contains facts from 'the reality', however, they are filled with subjective interpretations.
In this section, you'll find out about your subjective reality, and have a good look at objective reality through the creation of two paintings.
